A new documentary will explore the relationship between Georgian midfielder Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, his Italian club Napoli and the city it represents, with the work to be released next month.
Italian daily La Gazzetta dello Sport on Wednesday said Georgian reporter and creative director Salome Benashvili had been in Naples for the shooting of the film that will take a look at Kvaratskhelia’s relationship with the city and supporters of the team he moved to ahead of the current season.
[The film will trace the] [h]istory of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Napoli’s former summer bet and the best striker revelation in Serie A with five goals and five assists in 10 games”, the daily said in its preview of the documentary.
The 21-year-old midfielder joined Napoli from Dinamo Batumi for €10 million, making an instant impression in the Italian national championship and Champions League through goals and assists.
Earlier this month he became the first Georgian player to score in the latter competition in 17 years with his goal against Ajax, in the 6-1 win for the Italian club.
His performances for the club have led to Napoli supporters dubbing him “Kvaradona”, in reference to Argentinian legend Diego Maradona who played for the club between 1984-1991, and invited praise from football journalists, managers and pundits.
