Main directions of the “dynamic partnership” between Georgia and the Czech Republic were discussed on Tuesday in a meeting between Georgian prime minister Irakli Garibashvili and Czech justice minister Pavel Blažek.
The officials expressed their willingness to “further deepen” the existing cooperation and political dialogue, the government administration said.
The meeting underlined the “significant assistance” provided by the Czech Republic in Georgia’s institutional, socio-economic transformation and reforms on the path of European integration.
Garibashvili thanked Blažek for his “unwavering support” for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia and emphasised the importance of the Czech Republic's participation in the European Union monitoring mission adjacent to the occupation line along Georgia’s Russian-occupied regions.
The conversation also touched on the “important progress” achieved by Georgia on the path of European integration, with the sides noting that the European Council had confirmed the future of the country to be in the EU by granting it the European perspective in June.
The two officials noted the decision had laid the foundation for a “new stage” that should bring the country to EU membership.
The meeting also discussed the first summit of the European Political Community, with Garibashvili stressing the event’s hosting in Prague was of “special importance” and would contribute to “unifying efforts to ensure peace and stability” on the European continent.
