PM, national intellectual property centre’s newly appointed chair review projects

Georgian prime minister Irakli Garibashvili on Thursday met Soso Giorgadze, the newly appointed chair of the national intellectual property centre Sakpatenti, to review current and planned projects of the body, the government administration said.
Giorgadze was appointed to the position following his spell as a deputy minister of culture, sports and youth.
He also worked as a deputy minister of justice following positions held in the system of the ministry since 2013.
At various times, he headed the ministry’s citizenship and migration service, the state services development agency and the house of justice.
Main directions of the “dynamic partnership” between Georgia and the Czech Republic were discussed on Tuesday in a meeting between Georgian prime minister Irakli Garibashvili and Czech justice minister Pavel Blažek.
Cooperation between Georgia and Romania, and relations with NATO and the European Union were discussed on Tuesday in a meeting between Georgian prime minister Irakli Garibashvili and Romanian defence minister Vasile Dîncu.
Georgian prime minister Irakli Garibashvili on Friday discussed “fruitful cooperation”, ongoing and future projects with Daren Tang, the director general of the World Intellectual Property Organisation in a Tbilisi meeting, the government administration said.
Georgian economy minister Levan Davitashvili on Wednesday said the development of the intellectual property system was one of the “important and priority” directions of the Georgian government.
Georgia will host the Worldwide Symposium on Geographical Indications in June, Soso Giorgadze, the head of the country’s National Intellectual Property Centre, said on Tuesday.
About 250 researchers, policymakers and professionals will gather in the Georgian capital city of Tbilisi in June to exchange ideas as part of the Worldwide Symposium on Geographical Indications.
