Maka Botchorishvili, the chair of the Georgian parliament’s European Union integration committee, on Thursday said the participation of the country’s prime minister in the inaugural summit of the European political community was an “opportunity” to discuss the “important idea” over the creation of the “new European community”.

In her remarks over the matter, Botchorishvili noted it was “important” that “Georgia’s voice” was heard regarding the EU’s idea.

The Georgian prime minister is participating in this meeting, which gives us the opportunity to once again discuss important issues for us together with the EU member states, and also discuss the important idea that was voiced by the European Union and which concerns the creation of a new European community”, the parliament official said.

Georgian PM Irakli Garibashvili will feature in the inaugural summit, initiated by the European Union and set to be hosted in Prague between Thursday and Friday.

The summit will bring together the heads of 27 EU member countries and 17 partner states. Garibashvili, together with the leaders of the countries of the European political community, will participate in “high-level topical discussions” in a roundtable format.
