Maka Botchorishvili, the chair of the Georgian parliament’s European Union integration committee, on Friday said the European Political Community format was a “new and important” initiative.
In her remarks over the summit hosted in Prague for the EPC, Botchorishvili noted the format should be used to “speed up” the process of Georgia's integration into the EU.
It’s the best opportunity when leaders of EU member states and representatives of candidate countries meet together and discuss similar issues. We have always wanted to be a part of such a process, and this is the best opportunity for Georgia to voice the country's position and introduce our vision to our partners, how we see this initiative and how it can be used to integrate Georgia into the European family”, the parliament official said.
Georgian prime minister Irakli Garibashvili on Thursday attended the opening event of the first plenary session of the EPC.
Summit organisers selected Garibashvili and his Estonian counterpart Kaja Kallas to co-chair the discussion featuring leaders of EU member states and reviewing the current geopolitical situation and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, as well as challenges threatening global security.
