The ways of development and “intensification” of cooperation, as well as high-level ties between the countries, were discussed on Friday by Georgian foreign minister Ilia Darchiashvili and his Albanian counterpart Olta Xhaçka, on the sidelines of the United Nations general assembly.
The foreign office said the ministers had discussed the European Commission's decision to grant Georgia the European perspective and the ongoing process of fulfilling the Commission's priorities.
Glad to meet my Albanian colleague @xhacka_olta. We had an engaging conversation regarding the prospects for deepening ties between our countries, as well as sharing experience on the path of European and Euro-Atlantic integration. pic.twitter.com/OaACn0wBuu

The importance of sharing Albania's experience on the path to joining the European Union and its political and practical involvement in Georgia’s NATO integration were also emphasised at the meeting, while Darchiashvili thanked his counterpart for the support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The ministers discussed bilateral relations, including the “potential” cooperation in economy and tourism. Darchiashvili invited Xhaçka for an official visit to Georgia.
