The Central Criminal Police Department of the Georgian Interior Ministry has arrested 12 individuals in Tbilisi and other regions of the country for group fraud and embezzlement, the MIA said on Wednesday.
The body said its investigation had established the members of the criminal group entered into leasing agreements with each other, misled the representatives of the leasing company and neither made any payments, nor returned the vehicles to the company.
The criminal activities caused material damage to the leasing company in the amount of ₾200,000 (about $71,720).
The crimes are punishable up to nine years in prison.
