The prosecutor's office of Georgia has arrested two individuals for unlawful appropriation of a large amount of money from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University and illegal obtainment of credit from TBC Bank, using their official position, the office announced on Wednesday.
The office said that the former accountant of the University had used her official position and had transferred ₾165,000 (about $59000) from the University’s accounts to the bank accounts of the related persons, misappropriating the mentioned money.
The investigation also established that a person in criminal connection with the defendant had misled the TBC Bank as if she had worked in various positions at the University and had illegally received a loan of ₾105,000 (about $38000).
The crimes are punishable by imprisonment from seven up to 11 years.
