Georgian Prime Minister thanks Patriarch of Jerusalem, and Archbishop of the Jordanian Orthodox Church for land handover

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Sunday extended his gratitude to Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem and Cristophorus, the Archbishop of the Jordanian Orthodox Church, for the handover of a plot of land to Georgia for creation of a culture centre near the Jordan River.

The head of the Georgian Government thanked the two religious leaders for their contribution to the handover,  emphasising the importance of the gesture for  Georgia, the Government Administration said.

The Patriarch of Jerusalem and the Archbishop also hosted a dinner in honour of the Georgian Government delegation, attended by Prince Ghazi bin Muhhamad.

Jordanian authorities presented a plot of land to Georgia for the purpose of opening a Georgian culture centre at the baptism site of Jesus Christ, with the Georgian PM calling the move “very generous” and a “great gift and joy” for Georgia.
