Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili will visit Jordan on a two-day visit over the weekend to take part in the handover of a plot of land near the Jordan River designated for a project of a Georgian culture centre.
The Georgian National Tourism Administration said the PM and Prince Ghazi bin Muhhamad would feature in the official ceremony of handing over the plot, located near the baptism site of Jesus Christ.
The 4,000-square metre location has been designated as a spot for building a culture centre. The plot was presented by Jordan’s royal family to Georgia in January. The Jordan River bears symbolic significance in both Judaism and Christianity, and is bordered by the West Bank and Israel on the west, and by Jordan and the Golan Heights to the east.
Garibashvili will also hold meetings with senior officials of Jordan as part of his visit.
