Maka Botchorishvili, the Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s European Union Integration Committee, said during her visit to Germany on Thursday that German officials believed Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova faced the “same” prospects in their formal applications for joining the European Union, and said the three states should be granted integration opportunities simultaneously.

[B]ased on the meetings [I have] already held, I can say that [German officials] believe that Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova have the same European prospect, and it should be granted and opened to all three countries simultaneously. Of course, everyone is aware of the particularly difficult situation in which Ukraine is today, but it will not affect the process for any other country,” the Parliament official said.

In the framework of her visit to Germany, Botchorishvili held meetings with German Parliament officials, in which Georgia's application for EU membership, the general progress in the country’s European integration, the security challenges in the Black Sea region and Russia's occupation of Georgian regions were discussed.

Botchorishvili thanked the members of the Bundestag for their “strong support” of Georgia's territorial integrity, European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations, as well as for their contributions to the “effective implementation” of the policy of non-recognition of the Russian-occupied territories.
