Georgia's application for the European Union membership, the completed questionnaire handed in by the country’s Government, and the European Commission report on Georgia's readiness for a candidate status were discussed on Wednesday in a meeting between Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Oliver Varhelyi, the EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement.
Garibashvili and Varhelyi discussed the work process of completing the questionnaire, successfully completed by Georgian authorities ahead of schedule, as well as the important next steps that the country must go through to get the membership candidate status, the Government Administration said.

The head of the Georgian Government said it was “important” that the process of Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine joining the EU was accompanied by the “unwavering support” of the EU institutions.
The meeting also focused on the security situation in the Black Sea region, with the Prime Minister reiterating Georgia's solidarity with the Ukrainian people.
