Maka Botchorishvili, the Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s European Union Integration Committee, discussed Georgia-EU relations, the country's European perspective and expectations for obtaining bloc’s candidate membership status this year, in her meetings with French officials, the Committee said on Friday.
As part of her working visit to France, Botchorishvili also reviewed the progress achieved by Georgia in fulfilling the 12 priorities outlined by the EU last year for granting candidate status to the country.
Botchorishvili held meetings with Pieyre-Alexandre Anglade, the Chair of the European Affairs Committee of the National Assembly of France, Emmanuel Puisais-Jauvin, the Secretary General of European Affairs in Prime Minister Administration, as well as with David Cvach, the Director for European Affairs and Sylvain Guiaugué, the Acting Director of the Continental Europe Department at the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

The parties discussed the EU enlargement policy and the importance of taking into account the geopolitical context in the political decision-making process. France’s support for Georgia’s European integration was also stressed, with the French side expressing readiness to provide “effective assistance” to Georgia in this direction.
The Georgian official also met Jean-Dominique Giuliani, the President of the Robert Schuman Foundation and Florent Parmentier, the senior researcher at the Sciences Po CEVIPOF - the Centre of Political Research.
