NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General James Appathurai will address the Committee on Defence and Security of the Parliament of Georgia on Wednesday.
Appathurai will discuss the alliance’s cooperation with Georgia in the field of cybersecurity, the Georgian Parliament said.
The meeting, set to take place on Wednesday, will also involve a discussion on combating hybrid security threats.
NATO must step up individual support for Georgia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg told a briefing ahead of a summit of alliance leaders on Tuesday.
Global security challenges and the security situation in the Black Sea region in the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine were discussed on Wednesday during a meeting between Georgian Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze and NATO Assistant Secretary General for Intelligence and Security David Cattler.
NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg called on the allies of the alliance to “step up” in their support for Georgia following an extraordinary meeting of NATO defence ministers on Wednesday.
Stoltenberg said the ongoing war in Ukraine also put the nearby non-NATO member states, including Georgia, at risk.
It is important to step up cooperation with NATO partner countries, including Georgia, the Danish Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod said on Thursday ahead of the NATO ministers meeting.
NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Emerging Security Challenges James Appathurai, who is on a visit to Georgia, said on Wednesday he was “actively involved” in assisting Georgia in developing cybersecurity.
