Georgian Defence Minister, NATO Assistant Sec Gen discuss Black Sea region security situation amid Ukraine war

Global security challenges and the security situation in the Black Sea region in the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine were discussed on Wednesday during a meeting between Georgian Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze and NATO Assistant Secretary General for Intelligence and Security David Cattler. 

Burchuladze thanked the NATO representative for supporting Georgia's sovereignty, territorial integrity and aspirations for integration into the alliance, the Ministry said.

The meeting focused on global security challenges, existing threats and the current security situation  in the region, with Burchuladze and Cattler condemning the Russian aggression and expressing their support for Ukraine.

The conversation also focused on the practical mechanisms within the framework of the NATO-Georgia cooperation with regard to the strengthening of Georgia's defence capabilities, ways to combat hybrid challenges, disinformation and potential threats.
