Georgian soldiers and policemen will be eligible to undergo Covid-19 vaccination starting April 5, Health Minister Ekaterine Tikaradze said earlier today.
Tikaradze noted that in order to minimize the loss of Covid-19 vaccine doses, the Heath Ministry has decided to involve policemen and soldiers in the vaccination process.
The Health Ministry has decided to create reserve lists of police officers and soldiers, who will be allowed to undergo Covid-19 vaccination”, said Tikaradze.
Minister Tikaradze also said that as of today there are 181 spare doses of Covid-19 vaccine in Georgia and the ministry is going to vaccinate soldiers and police officers with those leftover doses.
In addition to soldiers and policemen, individuals above 55, patients on dialysis and organ transplant patients will also be allowed to undergo Covid-19 vaccination in Georgia.
Georgia began Covid-19 vaccination process on March 15 after the country received the first 43,200 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
Georgian top officials including Health Minister Ekaterine Tikaradze and President Salome Zurabishvili received the vaccine live on TV to encourage people to vaccinate.
