Georgia reports 464 new cases of Covid-19 out of 15,649 tests

Georgia has confirmed 464 new cases of Covid-19 after conducting 7,647 PCR tests and 8,002 rapid tests over the last 24 hours. 

As of now the number of total confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Georgia since last February has increased to 283,833. 

Out of the 464 new cases 243 were reported in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi. 

Other cases were reported in:

  • Adjara - 57
  • Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 49
  • Imereti - 28
  • Guria - 28
  • Shida Kartli - 23
  • Kvemo Kartli - 16
  • Mtskheta-Mtianeti - 10
  • Kakheti - 7
  • Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti - 3

Moreover 454 individuals have recovered from Covid-19 over the last 24 hours increasing the number of recoveries to 274,599.

With seven new cases of death Georgia has lost a total of 3,811 patients. The number of active cases now stands at 5,397.

Georgia began Covid-19 vaccination process on March 15. Currently health workers, people above 55, soldiers and policemen are eligible to receive their first vaccine shots. 

Mass Covid-19 immunisation is expected to start in Georgia in July. However, it will not be mandatory.
