Georgian citizens can replace Chinese vaccine with Pfizer for travel purposes starting today

Georgian citizens vaccinated with either the Chinese Sinovac or Sinopharm vaccine can now receive an additional shot of the Pfizer vaccine for travel purposes starting today.
If an individual wants to go abroad for travel, study or medical treatment, at least 28 days must have passed since receiving the second shot of the Chinese vaccine to get the Pfizer jab, the new decree of the Georgian Health Ministry reads.
The decree also says that in order to get an additional Pfizer vaccine shot individuals must provide a ‘travel ticket, booking or an invitation or a letter from a business trip or from an employer [attesting to frequent business visits], otherwise, [additional] vaccination will not be carried out.’
Health agencies explain that this is not a booster dose per se.
Vaccination with booster doses also starts today in Georgia and people over the age of 50, individuals with chronic diseases and high-risk groups are eligible to get a booster vaccine.
A total of 884,902 people are fully vaccinated in Georgia as of today while 1,004,298 individuals have received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

Georgia will neither buy, nor receive from donors the British AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine ‘as the demand for the vaccine is very low in the country,’ head of Georgia’s National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Amiran Gamkrelidze stated earlier today.
