Georgia reports 2,479 new cases of coronavirus of 25,385 tests

Georgia has reported 2,479 new cases of coronavirus, 2,374 recoveries and 42 deaths in the past 24 hours.
25,385 tests were conducted around the country in the past 24 hours. 15,522 of the 25,385 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 9,863 were PCR tests.
40,422 remain infected with Covid-19 in Georgia.
The country has had 664,813 cases of coronavirus since February 26, 2020.
8.47 per cent of tested individuals had Covid-19 in the past 14 days.
614,855 of the 664,813 patients have recovered, while 9,510 have died from the virus.

The new 2,479 cases were recorded in:
- Tbilisi - 869 cases
- Adjara - 117 cases
- Imereti - 474 cases
- Kvemo Kartli - 128 cases
- Shida Kartli - 132 cases
- Guria - 50 cases
- Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 220 cases
- Kakheti - 396 cases
- Mtskheta-Mtianeti - 35 cases
- Samtskhe-Javakheti - 40 cases
- Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti - 18 cases

5,562 patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals as of today. 1,247 of the 5,562 patients are in critical condition. 284 of the 1,247 critical patients are on artificial ventilation.
33,890 individuals are undergoing treatment at home.
27,836 individuals are in self isolation.
More than 9,600,000 tests have been conducted in the country so far.
1,914,269 individuals have received at least one dose of the vaccine in the country so far, of which 902,660 have been completely vaccinated.
Georgia has reported a total of 4,581 new cases of Covid-19 after conducting 21,271 PCR tests and 24,852 rapid tests over the last 24 hours. Out of the 4,581 new cases 1,525 were reported in Tbilisi.
The government of Latvia has donated a total of 83,070 doses of the Pfizer vaccine to Georgia. As of now, 322,903 doses of the Pfizer vaccine are available in Georgia. Those, willing to get vaccinated, should visit the health ministry website booking.moh.gov.ge and choose the vaccine they prefer and are eligible for.
Georgian citizens vaccinated with either the Chinese Sinovac or Sinopharm vaccine can now receive an additional shot of the Pfizer vaccine for travel purposes starting today. If an individual wants to go abroad for travel, study or medical treatment, at least 28 days must have passed since receiving the second shot of the Chinese vaccine to get the Pfizer jab, the new decree of the Georgian Health Ministry reads.
Georgian citizens over the age of 50, individuals with chronic diseases and high-risk groups will be given a third dose (booster shot) of the Covid-19 vaccine, Georgian Deputy Health Minister Tamar Gabunia announced earlier today.
Vice speaker of the Parliament and former health minister of Georgia, Davit Sergeenko, proposes ‘selective restrictions’ for individuals unvaccinated against COVID-19. Sergeenko's statement comes on the heels of surging daily cases of coronavirus, hitting around 3,000-4,000 over the past few days.
Georgia has reported 5,739 new cases of coronavirus, 2,082 recoveries and 36 deaths in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate has gone up to 10.15% of tested individuals for Covid-19 as of October 18 in comparison to 8.64% of the last two weeks. In total, 56,555 tests have been conducted around the country of which 42,546 were rapid tests, while the remaining 14,009 were PCR tests.
