Coronavirus cases surge in Georgia, daily infections stand at 4,775

Georgia has reported 4,775 new cases of coronavirus, 1,623 recoveries and 37 deaths in the past 24 hours.
27,031 remain infected with Covid-19 in Georgia.
47,723 tests were conducted around the country in the past 24 hours. 33,118 of the 47,723 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 14,605 were PCR tests.
The country has had 640,358 cases of coronavirus since February 26, 2020.
6.58 per cent of tested individuals had Covid-19 in the past 14 days.
603,995 of the 640,358 patients have recovered, while 9,306 have died from the virus.

- Adjara - 225 cases
- Imereti - 1,060 cases
- Kvemo Kartli - 256 cases
- Shida Kartli - 349 cases
- Guria - 156 cases
- Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 493 cases
- Kakheti - 617 cases
- Mtskheta-Mtianeti - 104 cases
- Samtskhe-Javakheti - 97 cases
- Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti - 59 cases

4,616 patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals as of today. 1,042 of the 4,616 patients are in critical condition. 255 of the 1,042 critical patients are on artificial ventilation.
21,666 individuals are undergoing treatment at home.
20,698 individuals are in self isolation.
More than 9,300,000 tests have been conducted in the country so far.
1,882,118 individuals have received at least one dose of the vaccine in the country so far, of which 879,630 have been completely vaccinated.
In total 55 kindergartens out of total 189 have closed temporarily in the Georgian capital city Tbilisi due to confirmed Covid-19 cases, announces the Kindergarten Management Agency of Tbilisi. All closed kindergartens will resume operations once the quarantine period of 12 days expires.
Georgia has reported 1,530 new cases of coronavirus, 1,848 recoveries and 23 deaths in the past 24 hours.

The ruling Georgian Dream party’s candidate for Batumi mayor, Archil Chikovani and the United National Movement opposition party’s candidate for Poti mayor, Gigi Ugulava have tested positive for Covid-19.
“Unvaccinated parents and teachers pose danger to children”, said Head of Infectious Disease and AIDS Centre Tengiz Tsertsvadze. Tsertsvadze said that each person and media outlets must somehow work individually with each citizen to convince them that vaccination is our [citizens’] salvation.
Vaccination against flu for pregnant women, patients on dialysis and doctors will start this week in Georgia, Head of the National Centre for Disease Control Amiran Gamkrelidze said today.

Georgian citizens vaccinated with either the Chinese Sinovac or Sinopharm vaccine can now receive an additional shot of the Pfizer vaccine for travel purposes starting today. If an individual wants to go abroad for travel, study or medical treatment, at least 28 days must have passed since receiving the second shot of the Chinese vaccine to get the Pfizer jab, the new decree of the Georgian Health Ministry reads.

Georgia has reported 727,941 cases of coronavirus since February 26,2020, of which 669,822 individuals have recovered, while 10,136 have died from the virus.
Georgian health officials and medical experts are expecting coronavirus daily cases to exceed 7,000 amid a low rate of vaccination, not adhering to mandatory guidelines, and large political rallies across the country.
