Mayoral candidates of ruling GD, opposition UNM parties test positive for Covid-19

The ruling Georgian Dream party’s candidate for Batumi mayor, Archil Chikovani and the United National Movement opposition party’s candidate for Poti mayor, Gigi Ugulava have tested positive for Covid-19.

In his Facebook post Chikovani says that a repeat test has confirmed the virus.

Archil Chikovani has noted that he will continue the election campaign remotely.

I will be back to the election campaign very soon. There is a second round ahead, in which I will definitely win with you [the public]”, Chikovani wrote on Facebook.

Gigi Ugulava has also informed the public about his Covid status through Facebook.

I feel good, I’m vaccinated against Covid-19… Will participate in the election campaign online until I recover. Not a single day is to be lost. Victory is near”, Ugulava wrote on Facebook.
