Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has received his second jab of the Pfizer vaccine early today.

PM Garibashvili has again spoken about the safety of the vaccines and the importance of vaccination to defeat the coronavirus pandemic.

Irakli Garibashvili, who tested positive for the virus back in April, received his first jab of te vaccine in early August. 

The adult vaccination rate in Georgia stands at 23% as of  September 16, based on the data release by the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

Epidemiologists say that it is not possible to defeat the pandemic without the vaccination of at least 60 per cent of the country’s population of 3.7 million by the end of 2021.

Vaccination against Covid-19 in Georgia is available with Pfizer, Sinopharms, Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccines.
