The National Democratic Institute (NDI) has launched its long-term election observation mission in Georgia for the October 2 municipal elections.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the mission will only be composed of three experts, the mission head and their Georgian assistants.
The mission will observe election campaigning, the work of the election administration, the media and information environment, gender and inclusivity issues, as well as the influence of the pandemic on the electoral process.
The NDI says that it will consider the mission’s reports while making its recommendations for the country on how to improve its election environment and electoral process.
The experts taken on by the mission have already arrived in Georgia and will stay in the country through election day.
