A field hospital for 500 coronavirus patients in the Didi Digomi district of Tbilisi has received its first nine patients and will work in full capacity starting today, Georgian Deputy Health Minister Tamar Gabunia announced.
Gabunia noted that patients will stay in field hospitals for two-three days to be stabilised and after that will be transferred to a hotel or other hospital depending on their health condition.
Gabunia also stated that further mobilisation of the hospital sector is underway.
Some hospitals are still preparing to mobilise extra beds, this is a parallel process,” stated Gabunia.
She announced that the patients’ condition in the field hospital is stable, despite the fact that there are patients who require oxygen treatment.
Georgia has reported 4,743 new cases of coronavirus and 59 deaths in the last 24 hours.
A total of 58,995 people currently remain infected with coronavirus in Georgia.
