The average monthly income (cash and non-cash inflows) of the Georgian population amounted to 1,194.6 billion GEL in 2020, which is 4.5% less compared to 2019, says the National Statistic Office of Georgia (Geostat).
In addition, average monthly incomes decreased 6.4% per household and amounted to 1,100.5 GEL, while it decreased 4.4% per capita and amounted to 321.4 GEL in 2020.
Last year the main source of income for households was cash income and transfers, which increased 2.3% year-on-year and reached 86.8%.
In 2020, the income from wages had a significant contribution in the structure of cash incomes and transfers, the share of which decreased by 0.9 percentage points y/y and amounted to 47.8 %.
Additionally, the share of income from self-employment decreased by 2.0 percentage points and equaled 9.4%. Also, the share of income from pensions, scholarships and social assistance increased by 4.4 percentage points compared to the same period of the last year and amounted to 23.4%", said Geostat.
Last year the average monthly expenditures of the population in Georgia amounted to 1,127.3 million GEL, which is 7.6% decrease y/y.
The average monthly expenditures per household decreased by 9.4% and equaled 1,038.5 GEL, while the average monthly expenditures per capita decreased by 7.4% and amounted to 303.3 GEL", said Geostat.
In 2020, the share of household cash consumption expenditures in total expenditures increased by two percentage points compared to 2019 year and equaled 70.1%.
Geostat said that last year expenditures on food, beverages and tobacco had a significant share in the structure of cash consumption expenditures and amounted to 42.1%.
