Medics have checked 35,000 individuals in the municipality of Marneuli for suspicious symptoms of COVID-19 in eastern Georgia, identifying some individuals with suspicious symptoms who will be observed by medics to make sure they are healthy.
The Ministry of Health started testing locals in Marneuli and Bolnisi municipalities yesterday with the help of rapid tests.
100 individuals have already been tested for the virus. One among them, a pregnant woman from Bolnisi municipality, has tested positive for the virus earlier today.
Health Minister Ekaterine Tikaradze said the woman is a relative of the 62-year-old woman from Marneuli municipality, who also tested positive for the virus on March 22.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and Defense Forces constantly monitor the bypass roads to ensure a safe environment in the villages of Marneuli and Bolnisi municipalities, which were placed under lockdown on March 23 after a local, 62-year-old woman tested positive for the new coronavirus.

As of now, there is no problem in terms of supplying products to supermarket chains in Bolnisi and Marneuli municipalities.
Movement inside the municipality is strongly monitored. Locals are able to carry out agricultural work only in line with strict rules.
Local media and the press are working in an ordinary regime, while the Georgian Public Broadcaster provides information for the media outlets in the country about the situation in the municipalities.
The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus has reached 79 in Georgia, with 10 people having recovered since the beginning of the outbreak.
4,055 people in Georgia are under quarantine and 252 others are in hospitals.
