Rapid coronavirus tests will be used for people in high risk groups and who display symptoms after testing is carried out in Marneuli and Bolnisi, two regions in eastern Georgia under lockdown.
Deputy Minister of Health Tamar Gabunia said that rapid coronavirus tests will not be used if a person does not present with symptoms.
She noted that these rapid coronavirus tests take 1.5-2 hours.
1000 rapid coronavirus tests have already been provided to Marneuli and Bolnisi municipalities in eastern Georgia.
Georgia will have 3,000 rapid coronavirus tests by the end of this week and an additional 5,000 next week.
In total, Georgia will have a total of 200,000 rapid coronavirus tests from China.
The total number of confirmed cases in Georgia stands at 77. 10 of the 77 have recovered, while two were Austrian citizens who have already left the country via a charter flight.
As of now 65 in Georgia remain infected with the virus, five are children.
4,055 people in Georgia are under quarantine and 252 others are in hospitals.
Marneuli and Bolnisi municipalities in eastern Georgia are in lockdown.
