Georgia has exported 10,179 tonnes of hazelnuts between August 1 and November 15, which is a 39 per cent increase compared to the same period of last year, announces the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia.
The value of exports increased by 50 per cent and reached $53.8 million, said the ministry.
Georgian hazelnuts were exported to these EU countries:
- Germany (2,977 tonnes)
- Italy (1,966 tonnes)
- Czechia (550 tonnes)
- Poland (320 tonnes)
- Spain (308 tonnes)
- Lithuania (289 tonnes)
- Bulgaria (279 tonnes)
- France (218 tonnes)
- Greece (97 tonnes)
- Estonia (88 tonnes)
- Slovakia (64 tonnes)
- Latvia (62 tonnes)
- Luxembourg (60 tonnes)
- Austria (22 tonnes)
- Croatia (10 tonnes)
Georgian hazelnuts were also exported to:
- Turkey (530 tonnes)
- Armenia (497 tonnes)
- Russia (496 tonnes)
- Belarus (240 tonnes)
- Brazil (186 tonnes)
- Ukraine (176 tonnes)
- Algeria (173 tonnes)
- Canada (114 tonnes) and others.
About 50,000 tonnes of high quality hazelnuts are expected to be harvested in Georgia this year, announces the Ministry of Agriculture.
