Georgian hazelnuts exports up 39% as of November 15

Georgia has exported 10,179 tonnes of hazelnuts between August 1 and November 15, which is a 39 per cent increase compared to the same period of last year, announces the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia.

The value of exports increased by 50 per cent and reached $53.8 million, said the ministry.

Georgian hazelnuts were exported to these EU countries: 

  • Germany (2,977 tonnes)
  • Italy (1,966 tonnes)
  • Czechia (550 tonnes)
  • Poland (320 tonnes)
  • Spain (308 tonnes)
  • Lithuania (289 tonnes)
  • Bulgaria (279 tonnes)
  • France (218 tonnes)
  • Greece (97 tonnes)
  • Estonia (88 tonnes)
  • Slovakia (64 tonnes)
  • Latvia (62 tonnes)
  • Luxembourg (60 tonnes)
  • Austria (22 tonnes)
  • Croatia (10 tonnes)

Georgian hazelnuts were also exported to:

  • Turkey (530 tonnes)
  • Armenia (497 tonnes)
  • Russia (496 tonnes)
  • Belarus (240 tonnes)
  • Brazil (186 tonnes)
  • Ukraine (176 tonnes)
  • Algeria (173 tonnes)
  • Canada (114 tonnes) and others.

About 50,000 tonnes of high quality hazelnuts are expected to be harvested in Georgia this year, announces the Ministry of Agriculture.
