The Georgian ski resort of Bakuriani is getting ready to host the 2023 Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships by developing its infrastructure that includes three new ski lifts in the area, built by international manufacturer of ropeways, cable cars and ski lifts the Doppelmayr Garaventa Group.
Georgian Economy Minister Natia Turnava visited Bakuriani today to see the newly built ski lifts and said that hosting 2023 Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships is a big responsibility 'that we respond to with new [infrastructural] projects'.

She also said that Bakuriani will host the first competition in 2021 which will be the first test event in the cross discipline, the Ski Cross World Cup stage.
In addition there has been a very large infrastructural development in Bakuriani - a bypass road has been built, a new road to Mitarbi and Kokhta has been upgraded, recreational zones are also planned for this area. All this will give us more opportunities to host more tourists in Bakuriani, of course, in accordance with the security measures and rules", said Turnava.
