A 52-year-old man has died of coronavirus in the village of Labra in Georgia’s Russia-occupied Abkhazia region. This is the fourth person who has died of the virus in the region.
The de-facto Ministry of Health of Abkhazia said the man had a high fever for nearly two weeks and was treating himself with fever-reducing medications. The man called an ambulance on August 23 after his health condition worsened, but unfortunately he has died.
Locals of the village of Labra are being tested for the coronavirus.
As of today, a total of 247 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in occupied Abkhazia, out of which 101 have already recovered.
