Georgia reports 14 new cases of coronavirus, 203 remain infected with COVID-19

Georgia reported its first case of the coronavirus on February 26, 2020.

Georgia has reported 14 new cases of the coronavirus earlier today, bringing the total number of cases to 1,278. 

1,058 of the 1,278 patients have recovered, while 17 others have died. 

As of today 203 individuals remain infected with COVID-19 in the country. 

12 of 14 new cases were reported in the Lenjeri village of Mestia municipality.

Mestia municipality in western Georgia and Karajalari village of Gardabani municipality in eastern Georgia remain on coronavirus lockdown. 

More then 1,000 peole were tested for the coronavirus in four village of Mestia municipality yesterday. 

Eleven employees of the Georgian Interior Ministry have tested positive for the coronavirus over the past several days.

Seven of the 11 are border guards at Russia-Georgia border, three are firefighters in Mestia municipality, while the remaining one is an inspector in the state guard service. 

All 11 are undergoing treatment in Tbilisi Hospital of Infectious Diseases. 

7,718 people were quarantined in Georgia as of August 12.
