Georgia reports 19 new cases of coronavirus, one village placed under quarantine

Georgia has reported 19 new cases of the coronavirus earlier today, many of the new cases were reported in Gardabani municipality of eastern Georgia.
Director of Tbilisi Hospital of Infectious Diseases Marina Ezugbaia says that eight of the 19 new cases were from Lilo open market in Tbilisi which employees many of Gardabani inhabitants, five in Gachiani settlement of Gardabani ,two new cases were imported, one is a medical personnel, while the source of infection in the remaining three individual is unidentified.
The government of Georgia has placed the Karajalari village of Gardabani municipality under quarantine earlier today to prevent the further spread of the virus.
Roads to and from the village have been blocked by police and drones are being used to monitor the area.

About 1,000 locals of Karajalari village have already been tested for the coronavirus.
The Georgian National Centre for Disease Control has begun mass testing of people for the coronavirus at Lilo open market in the outskirts of Tbilisi where many Gardabani inhabitants work as vendors.
Georgia reported its first case of the coronavirus on February 26, 2020.
Since then 1,104 people have tested positive for the coronavirus in the country.

Forty-one of the total cases have been reported in Gardabani municipality which is inhabited mostly by ethnic minorities.
912 of the 1,104 patients have recovered, while 16 others have died in the country.
As of today 176 people remain infected with COVID-19 in Georgia.
More than 187,000 people have been tested for the coronavirus so far.
Georgia has reported 12 new cases of the coronavirus earlier today, bringing the total number of cases to 1,058. Five of the 12 new patients had contact with infected individuals, two are new cases from Gachiani, central Georgia, two other cases are imported,while the source of infection in three new patients is unidentified. 911 of the 1,058 patients have recovered, while 16 others have died.
Paris, Riga, Munich are exceptions
Regular international flights will not resume in Georgia until August 31, announces the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency, however Paris, Riga and Munich will be exceptions. Air France will carry out two flights a week starting early August from Paris Charles de Gaulle and Tbilisi International Airports and German airline Lufthansa will carry out flights two times a week, linking Tbilisi to Munich.
Georgia has reported 10 new cases of COVID-19 infections on Sunday, with the number of active cases sitting at 114.
The Council of the European Union has updated the list of countries to which the travel restrictions should be gradually lifted and the list still includes Georgia. The criteria to determine third countries for which current travel restrictions should be lifted cover in particular the epidemiological situation and containment measures, including social distancing, as well as economic and social considerations.

More than 2,400 locals of Karajalari village in Gardabani municipality in eastern Georgia, which is under lockdown, have been tested for the coronavirus with the use of PCR tests, Kvemo Kartli governor Shota Rekhviashvili stated earlier today.
