Georgia reports 6 new cases of coronavirus, 199 remain infected with COVID-19

Georgia has reported six new cases of the coronavirus earlier today which is the decrease in the number of cases compared to the last week.

Four of the six new cases are imported, one is connected with Gachiani cluster (Gardabani municipality), while the source of infection in one individual is unidentified.

Most of the new cases over the past several days were connected with Gardabani municipality of eastern Georgia and the Lilo open market in Tbilisi where many of Gardabani inhabitants work as vendors. 

The Karajalari village in Gardabani municipality remains under quarantine.

As of today 199 people remain infected with COVID-19 in the country. Since February 26, 2020 Georgia has reported 1,137 cases of the coronavirus. 

922 of the 1,137 patients have recovered, while 16 others have died.

Since February more than 200,000 people have been tested for the coronavirus in the country. 

Forty-one Georgian citizens, who tested positive for the coronavirus abroad, have been transported to the homeland for treatment.

Many of the individuals were Georgian soldiers in NATO Resolute Support Mission who contracted the virus in Afghanistan.
