Georgia reports 6 new cases of coronavirus, 199 remain infected with COVID-19

Health agencies have identified 13 new cases of COVID-19 in Georgia on Saturday, with the Karajalari village of the southern Gardabani municipality still under quarantine to contain a rise in reported cases since the last few days.

Georgia has reported 19 new cases of the coronavirus earlier today, many of the new cases were reported in Gardabani municipality of eastern Georgia. The government of Georgia has placed the Karajalari village of Gardabani municipality under quarantine earlier today to prevent the further spread of the virus. Roads to and from the village have been blocked by police and drones are being used to monitor the area.  About 1,000 locals of Karajalari village have already been tested for the coronavirus. 

Georgia has reported 12 new cases of the coronavirus earlier today, bringing the total number of cases to 1,058. Five of the 12 new patients had contact with infected individuals, two are new cases from Gachiani, central Georgia, two other cases are imported,while the source of infection in three new patients is unidentified. 911 of the 1,058 patients have recovered, while 16 others have died.

Georgia has reported 24 new cases of the coronavirus earlier today which is the highest figure since June. The source of infection in 22 cases of the 24 new cases has been identified. Head of Georgia’s National Centre for Disease Control Amiran Gamkrelidze said that 10 new cases are from Gardabani municipality of eastern Georgia, five new patients had contact with infected individuals, while seven new cases are imported (five are truck drivers). “The state agencies are trying to identify the source of infection in the remaining two patients. The figure gives no reason to panic. However, we should act very cautiously,” Gamkrelidze said. 

Vendors at all open markets in Georgia will undergo mandatory PCR (polymerase chain reaction) testing for the coronavirus in the coming days, as five employees of the open air Lilo Market in Tbilisi tested positive for the virus several days ago.

Four of the eight new cases are imported (two of the four are truck drivers), one is a medical personnel, one is from Lilo open market in Tbilisi, one is from Gchiani settlement of Gardabani municipality (eastern Georgia), while the remaining one does not know how he contracted the virus. 

Georgia has reported 10 new cases of the coronavirus earlier today, bringing the total number to 1,155. Five of the 10 new cases are connected with the Gachiani cluster (Gardabani municipality), four are imported (two of the four are truck drivers) and in one case, the source is being identified and contacts are being investigated.

Almost half of the imported coronavirus cases to Georgia, 46.6 per cent, were from Russia, says the report released by Georgia’s National Centre for Disease Control yesterday.

Georgia has reported eight new cases of the coronavirus earlier today, bringing the total number of cases to 1,168. 940 of the 1,168 patients have recovered, while 17 others have died. As of today 211 people remain infected with COVID-19 in the country. Five of eight new cases are imported (two are truck drivers), one is from Gachiani settlement of Gardabani municipality, one is a medical personnel, one had contact with an infected individual. 

More than 2,400 locals of Karajalari village in Gardabani municipality in eastern Georgia, which is under  lockdown, have been tested for the coronavirus with the use of PCR tests, Kvemo Kartli governor Shota Rekhviashvili stated earlier today.
