A selection of works by some of the finest composers of the classical era have been selected for a solo performance by young Georgian pianist Mariam Batsashvili at Düsseldorf's Kunstpalast venue this Sunday.

The Robert Schumann Hall of the art palace will lend its stage to the prize-winning pianist's rendition of the composer's Fantasy Pieces, while the artist - a familiar sight at some of the most high-profile performance venues over the recent years - will also bring her talents to the bear for other major pieces.

The Chromatic Fantasia by Bach and Mozart's Sonata No. 8 are other blocks in the programme but the selection does not end there.

See Mariam Batsashvili speak about her studies and the win at the 2014 Franz Liszt Piano Competition:

Batsashvili - called "one of the great musical hopes on the piano" (Georgian Culture Centre in Berlin) - will be on stage as part of erstKlassik series of concerts introducing classics in a "refreshing" format for the Kunstpalast audience.

[Batsiashvili's] debut with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra under Alexander Shelley, where she played Liszt's 1st piano concerto in 2018, led to an immediate re-invitation for the 2019/20 season with his 2nd piano concerto. She has also thrilled [in] her debut concerts in China and Japan" - Georgian Culture Centre in Berlin

Named a BBC New Generation Artist during the 2017/18 season, the pianist has shared stage with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra, among others, and performed at venues from the St Petersburg Philharmonic to the Wigmore Hall in London.

The young artist became subject of international attention after winning the 2014 Franz Liszt Piano Competition. The honour ranks alongside her prizes from the 2011 Liszt Competition for Young Pianists and the 2012 María Herrero International Piano Competition.

Recipient of the 2015 Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli Prize, Batsashvili released her first album last year with Warner Classics and represents the high-profile Yamaha company along with other notable performers.

Her performance at the Kunstpalast venue will host the audience on January 26.
