Georgian pianist Tamta Magradze was declared winner of the Online Audience Award of the Liszt Competition Utrecht, after she finished first in an online poll on Monday.

Magradze, who competed with 13 other talents in the final stage of the Dutch-hosted event, took home the honour along with a €1,000 money prize and an opportunity to perform in front of the audience of Utrecht's TivoliVredenburg venue in late 2021.

The 25-year-old Georgian was unveiled the winner of the poll with 1395 votes, over 600 more than second-placed Leonardo Pierdomenico of Italy. Czech Republic's Matyáš Novák finished third with 777 votes.

The voting saw 6019 people from 71 countries pick their favourites. The polling was hosted by organisers after the live edition of the Liszt Competition Utrecht was cancelled in September due to "ongoing travel restrictions and unpredictable local situation" in connection with the coronavirus pandemic.

Magradze is now the latest winner of the contest from Georgia, with Mariam Batsashvili earning the principal award in 2014.

The full list of finalists of this year's event can be viewed on the competition's official website.
