Head of the Georgian National Centre for Disease Control Amiran Gamkrelidze says that the current epidemiological situation in Georgia will allow for elections to be held, studies to begin and other activities to be expanded.

However, Gamkrelidze adds that all should be done in order to ensure the protection of fundamental human rights in terms of voting in elections and on the other hand, to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus in the country.

Our current epidemiological situation is one of the best in the region...We have been given the assignment…[of figuring out] how to adapt safety rules, such as the use of face masks, keeping distance between individuals, to election conditions and to the pre-election period. The Center for Disease Control should issue appropriate recommendations", Gamkrelidze said.

Gamkrelidze once again called on the public to follow the safety rules and recommendations issued by the Ministry of Health of Georgia.
