Three health workers have tested positive for COVID-19 in Georgia, increasing the number of total confirmed cases in the country to 831.
All of the three infected individuals work at the Central Republican Hospital, its director Levan Gopodze has confirmed.
He also noted that the first individual who tested positive for the coronavirus yesterday is a corridor cleaner, whose source of infection has not been identified so far.
Head of the National Disease Control Centre Amiran Gamkrelidze stated today after a meeting with the Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia that Georgia plans to test 6,000-8000 people daily for COVID-19 in autumn.
Calling on the society to follow all of the recommendations of the health ministry, Gamkrelidze again calls on everyone to maintain social distancing, use face masks indoors and in public transport, observe the rules of personal and public hygiene, work remotely and avoid public gatherings.
Meanwhile, PM Gakharia has also encouraged those with a fever or other respiratory symptoms to consult a doctor as timely identification of possible cases and treatment is very important now.
