Parliament approves 1st reading of bill which fines individuals for not wearing face masks

The Georgian parliament has approved the first reading of bill earlier today which fines individuals by 20 GEL for not wearing face masks in closed public areas. 

Per the bill, for the violation legal entities will be fined by 500 GEL. 

Passengers or a driver will be fined 20 GEL if individuals refuse to wear face masks in public transport. 

The measure is temporary and will be valid at least by July 15 if the parliament approves the bill with its all, three readings. 

The author of the bill, ruling party MP Anri Okhanashvili said that the measure may be prolonged taking the epidemiological situation into account.
