Georgia reports one new case of coronavirus, health officials warn public

Georgia has reported just one new case of the coronavirus earlier today, bringing the total number of cases to 828.
694 of the 828 patients have recovered, while 13 others have died.

The source of infection of the new patient has been identified. She is an elderly woman with several chronic diseases.
Doctors say that her condition is critical.
However, yesterday, nine tested positive for the virus in total. Four of the nine individuals from Tbilisi do not know how they contracted the virus.

Head of Georgia’s National Centre for Disease Control Amiran Gamkrelidze says that people in Georgia have become too calm due to the low infection rate ‘which is not good as the virus still exists.’
He urged people to continue sticking to the recommendations, using face masks and social distancing.
The Georgian parliament has approved the first reading of bill earlier today which fines individuals by 20 GEL for not wearing face masks in closed public areas.
Five more individuals have tested positive for the coronavirus in Georgia since this morning, increasing the number of total confirmed cases to 827. Head of Georgia’s National Disease Control Centre Amiran Gamkrelidze said the sources of infection in the five new cases is unknown so far.
Georgia has reported six new cases of the coronavirus earlier today, bringing the total number of cases to 818. 686 of the 818 patients have recovered, while 13 others have died. As of today 119 individuals remain infected with COVID-19 in Georgia. The source of infection has been identified in all new cases. Director of Tbilisi Hospital of Infectious Diseases Marina Ezugbaia says that the new patients are from Marneuli and Bolnisi municipalities and from the quarantine zone.

One individual in quarantine has tested positive for the coronavirus in Georgia, increasing the total number of confirmed cases to 809. Meanwhile, with 11 recoveries a total of 674 individuals have recovered from the virus in Georgia since the country confirmed its first case in late February.
Every individual with a fever or other respiratory symptoms must consult a doctor, Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia said earlier today.

The Georgian parliament has passed a bill in its third and final reading today which allows the fining of individuals and companies for not wearing face masks in closed public areas, public transport and taxis, and for gatherings of more than 10 individuals for birthdays, weddings, funerals and other social events.

All of the six new patients are in Tbilisi. Several of them do not know how they contracted the virus. The individuals are who had contact with the new patients are being identified.
