2019-2020 academic year has started throughout Georgia today, with 700 fully or partly renovated schools.
The academic year has begun in more than 2,000 public schools in the country, while the process was delayed for 19 schools due to renovation work there.
The 19 schools, located in both Tbilisi and in the regions, will open to pupils at the end of the month.
This year Georgia has up to 55,000 first graders. 48,254 of them have been registered in public and 6,067 in private schools,” the Georgian Education Ministry reports.
Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia says that modern and renovated school infrastructure should be available for all students around the country and the renovation process should not take years to complete.
