Construction of a new school has ended in the village of Laila, Tsageri municipality, says the Municipal Development Fund.
The construction of the school which is for 90 students began back in September 2019.
The project cost 1.9 million GEL and was carried out by the Municipal Development Fund which apart from this school is building a further 66 schools and reconstructing 100 schools throughout Georgia.
In 2020, the Ministry of Infrastructure built 20 new schools for 1,530 students.
As for 2021, construction works are planned to end in 41 schools which are for 7,020 students.
The Municipal Development Fund says that in 2021-2022 more than 100 schools will be reconstructed and constructed in total for 16,000 students.
The school building project is financed by the government of Georgia and donor organisations such as the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB) and Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO). The total budget of the project is over 300 million GEL.
