Yet another Georgian citizen has been detained near the village of Akhalubani, in Gori Municipality, close to occupied Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) region for “illegally crossing the border” today.

Ioseb Dvalishvili, who is the local of the village of Mejvriskhevi, was reportedly taken to Tskhinvali jail together with the other seven people who were detained late yesterday.

The chief of staff of the National Security Council Kakhaber Kemoklidze said the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM) has been immediately informed and a hotline has been activated to receive further updates from Tskhinvali.

Kemoklidze said all the state agencies are working closely to ensure that all of the Georgian citizens, who have been illegally detained today and yesterday, are released in time.

We keep on communication with the family members of the illegal detainees”, Kemoklidze noted.

Parliament Speaker Archil Talakvadze also stated late yesterday that the state is sparing no efforts to return the detainees to their families as soon as possible.

Deputy Foreign Minister Lasha Darsalia said the recent tense situation along the occupation line is the result of the Russian occupation.

He said it is very important for Georgia to have the constant reaction from the international community on the Russian "borderisation".

Darsalia noted that the Government of Georgia is calling on "increased international pressure on Russia" in order to ensure further prevention of incidents on ground.
