Heavy rainfall affects Tbilisi, some regions [VIDEO]

Saturday's heavy wind and rain have affected some of the districts in Tbilisi, as well as other regions of Georgia.
In Tbilisi, the districts of Didube-Chughureti and Vake-Saburtalo suffered most.

Traffic movement was temporarily restricted at some of the streets in the capital Tbilisi due to Saturday’s heavy rain.
In particular, restrictions were imposed on all types of vehicles travelling from Heroes’ Square to Tamarashvili in Vere Gorge. However, the restrictions have been already lifted.

Heavy rain also affected eastern Georgian region of Shida Kartli, flooding the streets and ground floors of the region’s population.

The Emergency Management Centre has received about 25 calls from Tbilisi and 20 calls from Shida Kartli so far.
The rescue teams have been sent to all of the locations both and the relevant works are underway to solve the issue.
Heavy rain has hit Akhmeta and Lagodekhi municipalities in Kakheti region. About 1000 hectares of fruit trees and vineyards were damaged as the water level in River Alazani increased.
Akhmeteli subway access was flooded heavily while the emergency service has received calls about flooding in the basements of residential buildings in Gldani, Mukhiani and Digomi districts as well.
Recent bad weather has badly affected several regions of Georgia so that the experts are now evaluating the damage caused by the intensive downpour and precise figures will be known shortly.
Stage one of reinforcing works along the edge of the Vere River have been completed - almost 18 months after the river burst its banks in the deadly flash flood on June 13 last year, leaving 21 people dead, two still missing and city infrastructure heavily damaged.
Strong winds and heavy rainfall have caused problems in Tbilisi, particularly in the Didube-Chugureti district, the Georgian Emergency Management Service reports.
Heavy rain has caused flood and landslides in Georgia’s black sea region of Adjara. The situation is under control now, the local government’s press office reported. Bad weather affected the main Black Seaside town of Batumi, as well as Khelvachauri, Keda and Kobuleti.
A heavy rain and hail hit some municipalities in the Georgian regions of Imereti and Kakheti yesterday. Bad weather has especially affected the municipality of Sachkhere in Imereti region, damaging 30 percent of the agricultural land plots and vineyards.
