Serbian Foreign Minister visiting Georgia

Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze met with Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic after the latter's arrival earlier today.

During the meeting Bakhtadze and Dacic spoke of bilateral cooperation between Georgia and Serbia. Hailing their countries’ relations they also stressed the importance of supporting each other on the international level.

Bakhtadze and Dacic also discussed regional challenges and the situation in Georgia’s Russian occupied regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali (South Ossetia).

Today Minister Dacic also met with President Salome Zurabishvili and reiterated Serbia’s unwavering support for Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

President Zurabishvili stated that Georgia’s position on Kosovo remains unchanged and that the country also supports Serbia’s territorial integrity.

She also touched upon the Geneva International Discussions urging that the discussions should be transformed into a higher level of political format.

Meeting with his Georgian counterpart Davit Zalkaliani, the two foreign ministers spoke of the importance of opening Georgian diplomatoc representatin in Serbia earlier this year.

Serbian and Georgian people share historic past and cultural ties, as well as European values and respect to universal principles of international law”, Davit Zalkaliani said at the joint press conference after the meeting.

Minister Zalkaliani believes his Serbian counterpart’s visit to Georgia will make the two countries’ cooperation even stronger.

Minister Dacic will leave Georgia tomorrow.
