The chairperson of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Maja Gojkovic is holding her first visit to Georgia. No such high-level visit by the head of the legislative body of Serbia has taken place in the country.
Gojkovic held her first meeting with her Georgian counterpart Irakli Kobakhidze and the officials agreed the historic visit should become the beginning of a new phase between the two nations.
Kobakhidze and Gojkovic reiterated support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia and Georgia.
Serbia firmly supports Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. We are a country which respects international law and the territorial integrity of states that are recognized by the international community.”

Georgia also expresses its commitment to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia. We are thankful to Georgia for not recognizing Kosovo and Metohija. We are thankful that Georgia is against Kosovo’s membership in international organizations like UNESCO,” the Serbian official stated.
Kobakhidze and Gojkovic spoke about enhancing trade-economic ties and the Serbian politician floated the idea of launching direct flights between the two countries.
Gojkovic invited the chairman of the Georgian Parliament to visit Serbia and help further parliamentary cooperation and overall relations.
In the course of the two-day visit Gojkovic will also meet with Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili, President Giorgi Margvelashvili and Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Mikheil Janelidze.
