Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze told Fox News yesterday that under US President Donald Trump’s leadership Georgian-American relations are at an all-time high.
Our relations have never been as strong as they are now,” Bakhtadze said and added that he “truly appreciates” the US attitude to Georgia.
Bakhtadze spoke about Georgian territorial conflict issues and said that 20 per cent of historically Georgian lands are occupied by Russia.

Russia continues its aggressive policy. We are fully committed to the peaceful resolution of the conflict. Unfortunately Russia is trying to undermine our peaceful initiatives,” Bakhtadze said.
Bakhtadze stated that the occupation of the Georgian lands creates problems for Georgia’s accession to NATO, which is the “top priority” for his government.
He said that Georgia is the largest non-NATO member contributor for international peace and security and spends more than two per cent of its gross domestic product on defence.
Bakhtadze added that Georgia and the US are able to further enhance economic ties through signing a free trade deal, which would benefit both nations.
Bakhtadze is on his first official visit in US.
