Senator Roger Wicker has reaffirmed his support to Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations at a meeting with Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze in the US Senate yesterday.
The parties have discussed the political and economic reforms being carried out in Georgia as well as security challenges in the region, in which Georgia plays an important role.
PM Bakhtadze thanked the senator for his efforts in preparing bills that have been supportive of Georgia.
Senator Wicker who is the Chairman of the Helsinki Commission (Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe) has positively assessed steps made by Georgia for strengthening security and defence. He has expressed his belief that the upcoming presidential elections will be held in a peaceful and fair environment.
The elections will be observed by US Helsinki Commission representatives..
