For the first time in the history of fencing, a Georgian girl has become the European champion.
Teodora Kakhiani is the new European champion of women’s saber as of today’s match. She defeated the acting world champion – Italian Rossella Gregorio with a score of 15:12.
It has been the first gold medal for Georgia in fencing throughout its sport history.
Georgian Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs congratulated Kakhiani with her victory on Twitter.

The European Fencing Championship has officially kicked off in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi today and will continue until June 17.
It is one of 13 different tournaments scheduled within the Check in Georgia governmental project this year.
