For the first time in the history of fencing, Georgia has been crowned champion at the 10th European U23 Fencing Championship.
The event took place in Minsk, Belarus and the Georgian men’s team defeated Italy 34-36.

Georgia took on Russia in the semi-final and defeated it with a score of 45-41.
Before this, Georgia gained a victory against Bulgaria and Romania as well.

This was the second time in a row the Georgian U23 team reached the final of the European championship. Last year was the first time in the history of fencing when Georgia was in the final but the team lost against Russia 38-45, ending up at the second place.
