Henkel, a leading German company that produces and operates some of the world’s most recognised brands and technologies, has opened its first plant in the Caucasus in Georgia.
This is more proof of the preferential conditions we offer for doing business in Georgia,” said Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili while he attended the factory’s opening ceremony today.
Henkel’s new factory, located 39km south of capital Tbilisi in Gardabani municipality, will support adhesive technologies to meet growing demand for construction mixes in Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, announced Henkel.
The factory will produce dry construction mixes under the popular Ceresit brand for local and foreign markets, and will use the latest sustainable technologies to ensure efficient use of resources and limit the impact of its operations on the environment.

Earlier Henkel, a global producer of laundry and home care, beauty care and adhesive technologies, announced Georgia was the perfect place for the company’s first adhesive plant in the Caucasus and Central Asia region.
About €6 million in investments was spent on constructing the new plant, announced Henkel last year when it started building the new factory.
Prime Minister Kvirikashvili said it was a huge privilege a large international company like Henkel had decided to enter Georgia, and choose Georgia as its regional base.
We are delighted Henkel chose Georgia for its regional production. It is important that this new factory will create jobs for many people. At the same time, taking into account the fact that the factory is equipped with the latest technologies, this partnership will also be important for technological education in Georgia,” Kvirikashvili said.
He added Henkel products made here would have a ‘Made in Georgia’ stamp’ and was "a very clear example of Georgia-Germany economic cooperation”.

Meanwhile director of construction materials at Henkel Zdenek Brich congratulated Georgia, the Henkel company itself and consumers at today’s factory opening.
I would like to highlight the attractive investment environment of Georgia, which is supported by the Government. We believe in Georgia and our joint successful future. I believe we, together, will be proud of the products produced here, which will be made by using leading technologies,” Brich said.
The official Henkel website stated Georgia was one of the most attractive countries for Henkel in the Central Asian and Caucasian region due to its favorable investment climate and location.
Georgian Government officials first met representatives from Henkel two years ago at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. It was at this time when the sides started talking about Henkel setting up a base in Georgia.

Meanwhile the Georgian PM congratulated Henkel on the 140th anniversary of its establishment and 110th anniversary of its leading brand Ceresit.
Henkel products are widely used around the world and in the region. The company’s goods were used in a number of regional construction projects including a medical centre in Tbilisi, a new hotel in Georgia’s Black Sea town Batumi and an Olympic stadium in Azerbaijani’s capital Baku.
